Hiring and Communicating with a Home Cleaning Service

Thanks for stopping by my website. My name is Annabelle Collins. My husband and I live in a large house with our two teenage children. We’re fortunate in that we’re able to have a cleaning service come and clean on a weekly basis. In the past, I found that it was difficult for me to exert myself when it came to hiring and communicating with our cleaning service. I’ve never been very authoritative, and that shone through in a not good way. I wanted things to be done in a certain way, but found it difficult to ask for what I wanted. I have come to realize that in order for the service to do the job I want to be done, I have to ask for it to happen. I doubt that I’m alone in the fact that this is difficult, and want to share my experience and growth.

5 Mistakes To Avoid When You Move

by Vicki Burns

Moving to a new home can be an exciting adventure and the start of the next big chapter of your life. However, there are a few pitfalls of moving that every homeowner needs to prepare for to keep the adventure from turning into a disaster. Here are five mistakes to avoid to help your move go as smoothly as possible.

Trying to Move Too Soon

Deciding to move abruptly is more often than not a poor decision. It takes time to acclimate your family to the idea of a move, determine how you will find work in your new location, and get your other affairs in order before you leave. In general, you should spend at least three to four  months planning the move to ensure that you have the best possible experience.

Failing to Insure Your Belongings

If you are working with an experienced mover, the chances that your belongings are damaged will be minimal. However, accidents happen, and it is always a good idea to make sure that your belongings are insured. Many homeowners mistakenly believe that their home insurance policy covers their belongings, but many policies do not cover items in transit.

After you have selected a moving company, find out how much coverage they offer for damaged belongings. Many movers have extra packages that you can purchase that increase the coverage they offer for damaged items. Additionally, you will want to make sure that the household moving companies offers workers' compensation for their employees. This will protect you by making sure that you are not held responsible if an employee is injured in your home.

Packing Unnecessary Belongings

Moving is an excellent opportunity to trim down the clutter in your home. Going into a move with the mindset that only the necessary items need to come along will make the move easier and reduce moving costs. Many homeowners hold a yard sale to get rid of belongings that they don't need, while also making a bit of extra cash to help pay the movers.

Not Labeling and Organizing Properly

Few things are more frustrating than getting to your new home and not being able to find the one tool that you need, or your child's favorite toy that's missing. Taking the time to organize your belongings now will save you a headache in the future. Labeling boxes by their contents is the easiest way to find what you need later, and it will also help to ensure that your belongings are packed properly in the truck.

There are a few different techniques you could use to organize your move. Packing belongings room-by-room is one of the most popular methods, allowing you to simply take the belongings out of the truck and place them in their proper place in your new home. It is also a good idea to pack all of the items that you will need first in a single box, so that you have immediate access to them when you arrive.

Forgetting to Prepare for Bad Weather

Since you will be planning your move for months, there is no way to guarantee that you will have sunny skies on the day that you move. If rain or snow will not deter you from making the move on the day you scheduled, you need to take some steps to protect your belongings from exposure. Electronics, furniture, blankets, and other items that are susceptible to moisture should be covered with plastic sheets or tarp for their protection.

Moving to a new home will always be complicated, but anyone can do it with careful planning and preparation. Avoid these mistakes so that your move will be as stress-free as possible.
