About Me

Hiring and Communicating with a Home Cleaning Service

Thanks for stopping by my website. My name is Annabelle Collins. My husband and I live in a large house with our two teenage children. We’re fortunate in that we’re able to have a cleaning service come and clean on a weekly basis. In the past, I found that it was difficult for me to exert myself when it came to hiring and communicating with our cleaning service. I’ve never been very authoritative, and that shone through in a not good way. I wanted things to be done in a certain way, but found it difficult to ask for what I wanted. I have come to realize that in order for the service to do the job I want to be done, I have to ask for it to happen. I doubt that I’m alone in the fact that this is difficult, and want to share my experience and growth.

The Real Beauty Of Granite Countertops

by Vicki Burns

Depending on whether your kitchen remodeling job is considered a minor or major renovation, you can expect anywhere from a 65 to 80 percent return on your investment for the average mid-grade makeover. When you remodel your kitchen, you have many decisions to make, such as what flooring choice, tile for backsplashes, whether or not you're going to get all new cabinets or just reface them, and what type of countertops you are going to go with. In recent years, granite countertops have been extremely popular, and for good reason- they provide a high-end look. But they are more than just pretty to look at. Here are four key advantages of granite countertops.

Granite Countertops Are Durable

If you love cooking and want a professional kitchen, granite is the way to go. Granite is virtually indestructible. You don't need to worry about putting a towel down when you take something hot out of the oven; you can place your pans directly on the granite countertop itself. You also don't need to use a cutting board if you don't want to. You can chop to your heart's content right on the granite, and it will never show any cutting marks.

Granite Countertops Are Sanitary

Everyone wants a clean kitchen, but if you are a germaphobe, granite is an excellent choice. Granite is a non-permeable material. Nothing is going to pass through. For example, while wood countertops look beautiful, the wood can absorb whatever is placed on it. This means meat juices can soak into your counters. With granite, once it is sealed, nothing can be absorbed. You won't have to worry about cross-contamination or stains of any kind.

Granite Countertops Stay Beautiful Forever

Granite is a solid material. Just as hot pans and knives won't hurt it, neither will the passing of time. Your granite countertops will look as beautiful as the day you bought them, even twenty years later. The color can't fade, and the material can't chip, like a tile or Formica counter might.

Granite Countertops Are Low Maintenance

To keep your granite countertops looking lustrous and stain-free, most manufacturers recommend they be sealed every two years. This takes just five or 10 minutes of your time, and it requires you simply rub them down with a non-toxic sealant and allow it to set overnight. That's it. There's no reapplying grout to tile or anything like that. Simply wipe and wait eight hours.
