Hiring and Communicating with a Home Cleaning Service

Thanks for stopping by my website. My name is Annabelle Collins. My husband and I live in a large house with our two teenage children. We’re fortunate in that we’re able to have a cleaning service come and clean on a weekly basis. In the past, I found that it was difficult for me to exert myself when it came to hiring and communicating with our cleaning service. I’ve never been very authoritative, and that shone through in a not good way. I wanted things to be done in a certain way, but found it difficult to ask for what I wanted. I have come to realize that in order for the service to do the job I want to be done, I have to ask for it to happen. I doubt that I’m alone in the fact that this is difficult, and want to share my experience and growth.

Getting Modern Furniture For Small Spaces

by Vicki Burns

If you've had to downsize your life and move your things into a tiny apartment, you may recognize the need for more modern furniture that won't look so bulky and out of place in the smaller place. How can you get furniture to match your small new home?

Measuring Space

Before anything else, measuring tapes are needed. You need to have exact figures for the size of your bedroom, living room, kitchen and any other areas. Selecting furniture based on your personal tastes alone seems right until you try to stuff an oversized bed into a bedroom and leave no space for you to get around it. Every furniture item must be measured and matched against the dimensions of the existing space before you can choose it.

Considering Lucite

Many modern furniture items are made with lucite acrylic plastic. Because lucite is almost chairs, tables and other pieces are virtually see-through. This can seem to "open up" rooms more than big wood pieces. If you like, you can look for lucite items that are accented with gold and other materials to bring more style into the home.

Buying Mirrors

The chairs, sofas and tables you assemble for your place aren't the only pieces of furniture you'll need. Mirrors can especially train the eye to see more of a space. Whether you mount circular smaller mirrors on the wall in a nice pattern or put up long rectangular mirrors on opposite sides of the wall, light can bounce off each mirror to create more light and seemingly more space into every one of your rooms. Experiment with different shapes and configurations until you get a mirror setup that works best.

Using Double-Duty Things

Modern furniture pieces such as bed-sofa combos. leather storage cubes or brightly colored trunks can help with your space problem because they're serving multiple purposes. Pieces like that will eliminate the need for other pieces which could clutter the area.

Looking at Statement Pieces

Small tchotchkes, trinkets and collection pieces may seem appropriate because of the small space you now inhabit. However, statement pieces which are larger and stand on their own can often create a feeling that the space is not as tiny as it is. A beautiful framed art piece or a substantial sculpture in your living room, for instance, will attract the eye and hold attention. Look for pieces that are uniquely shaped or particularly colorful.
