About Me

Hiring and Communicating with a Home Cleaning Service

Thanks for stopping by my website. My name is Annabelle Collins. My husband and I live in a large house with our two teenage children. We’re fortunate in that we’re able to have a cleaning service come and clean on a weekly basis. In the past, I found that it was difficult for me to exert myself when it came to hiring and communicating with our cleaning service. I’ve never been very authoritative, and that shone through in a not good way. I wanted things to be done in a certain way, but found it difficult to ask for what I wanted. I have come to realize that in order for the service to do the job I want to be done, I have to ask for it to happen. I doubt that I’m alone in the fact that this is difficult, and want to share my experience and growth.

3 Finishes To Pick When Choosing Your Granite Countertops

by Vicki Burns

Granite continues to remain one of the most popular types of materials used for countertops because it's durable, beautiful, and more affordable than other stone like marble. Once you pick the type of granite that you want, you may think that your job is done, but there are a few other considerations to make before the installer comes to your house.

1. The Thickness

Before you have your granite countertops ordered, you will need to decide the thickness that you want them to be. If you are doing a traditional home, then having granite that's at least two inches thick will help to enhance the overall look of the traditional feel of the kitchen; especially if you have a big kitchen island. If, however, you are going for a more modern look, then going with a thinner cut slab will help add to the minimalist simplistic vibe that you are going for.

2. The Edge

When you choose the type of granite that you are going with, you can also choose the type of finished edge you want it to have. For instance, do you want it to have round corners because you have a lot of kids? Do you want it to have a raw edge that shows off the texture of the unfinished granite? Do you want to have a square edge that adds a more modern and finished feel to your kitchen? Before you decide on the type of edge you want to go with, ask to see samples so that you can make sure that you make the right decisions.

3. The Finish

Most people go with a finish of granite that is polished and shiny, but that may not be the look you are going for. In order for them to create this polished sort of look, they typically have to buff it, which will help give it that smooth look that so many people love. Just because it's smooth though, that doesn't mean that you don't have to seal it. As soon as your granite is installed, make sure that you hire someone to come seal the stone for you to help keep stains off of it. Although granite isn't as porous as other types of stone like marble, it can still absorb things like juices from fruits and vegetables which can cause them to stain.

Now that you know a few things that you will have to consider when you are getting new granite, it's time to reach out to a granite company like Granite & Marble Depot near you today and ask them about their granite installation process.
